The Level B Assessment: Advanced Application course provides candidates with guided opportunities to build on learning from the Level B Assessment: Foundational Principles course. This course extends skillsets by incorporating new assessment theories, concepts and advanced techniques, then applying them in ways that enable meaningful interpretation and supports for students with special needs. Candidates will be introduced to new Level B assessment tools. Candidates will be provided with a forum to discuss and share experiences, to modify current skills and to integrate advanced assessment techniques by working with students in real-time. Supervised feedback will be provided to strengthen future practice. Candidates will have the opportunity to demonstrate and apply advanced learning theories and techniques by describing and preparing for exceptional student circumstances, students presenting with complex learning profiles, and situations where more in-depth recommendations are required. Finally, course participants will expand their current knowledge to include neurocognitive correlates and resources to increase interpretation skills and inform recommendations specific to students requiring special learning support services.
