BC educators, including teachers and administrators, are the curators of the future. They need to be equipped with innovative strategies to prepare their students for their journey ahead. Today's online learning in BC is growing and evolving to support student success. It requires flexible educators who know how to build healthy relationships with their students, no matter where they live. It needs them to understand how to drive accessible, inclusive online learning to support their face-to-face, synchronous, blended (hybrid) or asynchronous learning environment. This course provides current or new BC educators with pedagogical principles, design approaches, and learning skills to give purpose and direction to effective online learning in the classroom and beyond. Technology promotes learning in many different ways. In this course, candidates will learn how to integrate interactive and pedagogically-sound technological tools into online learning while keeping the students engaged with intentional and targeted support and feedback. Using the provisionally approved or your school's district online learning management system, candidates will apply their knowledge to structure an online course supporting their students' needs in their subject, grade level, or educational context.
