In addition to the introductory prerequisite course, successful completion of this course will qualify candidates to perform/administer Level B assessments in K-12 schools in BC. However, it will be up to your school principal/district to decide who can perform the assessments. Advanced application in Level B assessment will provide candidates with guided opportunities to build on foundational assessment principles learned in the introductory course. This course allows candidates to extend skills sets to incorporate new assessment theory, concepts, and advanced techniques, then apply them in ways that enable meaningful interpretation and supports for students with special needs. Candidates will be introduced to multiple new Level B assessment tools. They will be provided with a forum to discuss and share experiences to modify current skills and integrate advanced assessment techniques by working with students in real-time and with opportunities to receive supervised feedback and strengthen future practice. Candidates will have the opportunity to demonstrate and apply advanced learning theories and techniques by describing and preparing for exceptional student circumstances, students presenting with complex learning profiles, and situations where more in-depth recommendations are required. Finally, candidates will expand current knowledge to include neurocognitive correlates and resources to increase interpretation skills and inform recommendations specific to students requiring special learning support services. These principles will be integrated into practice by several means: - final presentation to parents, student, and student learning service team - providing recommendations and strategies gained by using advanced theory, concepts, and techniques - completion of two full assessments demonstrating the integration of advanced concepts.
