This course extends knowledge of mathematic instruction as it can be applied to students considered 'at-risk' for being unsuccessful in mathematic programs. This course explores learning theories and current perspectives on teaching mathematics and other non-academic issues that relate to student success in mathematics. This course is designed to provide the foundational understanding to assess and implement differentiated programs for students at-risk in mathematics. The course will focus on building basic numeracy competencies and structuring programs to meet the unique needs of students, addressing factors like exceptionalities, behaviours and motivation.
