In Experiential Learning, students will undertake an intensive, work-based internship or placement at an office providing legal or law-related services. Placements may include NGOs, law firms, government agencies, judicial offices, and other non-profit organizations. Placements must be at least 50 hours and no more than 480 hours. Depending on volume and intensity of work, a minimum of 2 credits and a maximum of 8 credits may be awarded over one or two terms. No remuneration will be provided. Supervision will be provided on-site by a designated contact for the organization who is familiar with the experience and any work of the student, and who will provide a report on the student. There will also be supervision and grading by a full time Faculty member or the Assistant Dean, JD Program (instructors can also opt for 'pass/fail' evaluation). Students will be required to provide a log documenting time spent and activities undertaken and write a reflective piece to explain how the experience has contributed to their legal education.
