This course focuses on design, manufacturing and product management of various assistive technology devices to be used by community members, such as gaming or communication devices for children with motor control impairments, or ileostomy guides or pill dispensers for older persons, as well as various other external devices for persons with disabilities. Some aspects, such as the determination of the geometry and different sizes are product specific, while safety criteria, regulations, rational choice of alternatives, design procedures and product management are applicable when designing a much larger variety of products. Much of the theory will be based on examples of assistive devices for persons with disabilities. (Lec: 3, Lab: 0, Tut: 0.5)
