This course will provide students with a detailed discussion of the key types of fixed income instruments available to investors and companies, and a discussion of the fixed income markets. Topics will include among others; traditional bond characteristics such as callable, retractable and convertible options; bond yield determinants; bond pricing considerations the term structure of interest rates; interest rate risk and reinvestment risk; assessing credit risk; valuing fixed income instruments with embedded options; loan sales; structured products; and, mortgage- and asset- backed securities.
