The course will focus on radiation absorption in living tissue and physical and biological processes that influence the consequences of the exposure. Students will learn about the biological effects from different radiation qualities, doses, and dose rates. The course will address cellular radiation damage and repair mechanisms and introduce students to modern techniques in molecular biology used in accident and emergency biological dosimetry.
