This course introduces students to literature written in English from sub-Saharan African countries such as Nigeria, Kenya, Somalia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, and South Africa and its socio cultural contexts. Drawing on some of the key thinkers in postcolonial theory and criticism, it explores how colonialism and its aftermath have influenced and still shape writing in and about this region.
