Study of the main body of the Old Testament: Pentateuch; the historical books; the prophetic writings; wisdom literature. Exploration of the authors, historical origins, language, authority and the principal hermeneutical problems and preoccupations will be explored. Selected patristic commentaries will be utilised with a view to understanding the texts according to the Orthodox tradition and to study how the texts are read and interpreted in the light of the patristic tradition.
