This course examines new popular life-worlds in Africa. Though potentially elusive to conceptualize, this course shows how these forms of popular culture are related to the role of youth culture and social media in an age of globalization and democratization. Prerequisite(s): third year standing and at least 1.0 credit in AFRI or permission of the Institute of African Studies. Lecture three hours a week.
