This interdisciplinary course explores Indigenous languages of the Americas and their speakers, histories, and ecologies. It engages with concepts in linguistics, anthropology, and biology in order to understand how environmental factors shape language structure and linguistic diversity, in ways that render Indigenous languages distinct from majority or colonial languages.
