Institutional Learning Outcomes: Indigenous Knowledges and Ways This course introduces key concepts in First Nation Land Code Governance, exploring Indigenous governance pre and post-European contact, the development and implementation of Land Codes, and sectoral self-government initiatives. Students examine the impacts of colonization through the Indian Act and contrast the benefits of lands governance under the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management. Course topics include Indigenous sovereignty, land management, fiscal governance, and economic development, emphasizing the integration of sectoral authorities to support cohesive community governance. Through hybrid and blended learning, students build a foundational knowledge of Land Code operation and community lands governance. This course aligns with TRU's Indigenous Knowledge ILO by fostering an understanding of the systemic issues, legal frameworks, and cultural significance surrounding Indigenous lands governance.
