Students are introduced to the concepts of fundamental concepts and foundational techniques such as processor design, pipelined processors, memory and I/O systems in superscalar design. Students explore thorough overview of advanced instruction flow techniques, including developments in advanced branch predictors in superscalar. Students discuss limitations of scalar to superscalar pipelines, and multiple threads. Students explore groundwork for emerging techniques in the field and an introduction to multiprocessor systems. Prerequisite: Admission to the Graduate program in Engineering.
