Students focus on the economics of land and natural resource (both nonrenewable and renewable) use issues. Topics include rent theory; welfare measurement; property rights and externalities; policy and project evaluation using cost-benefit analysis and valuation methods; urban and agricultural land economics issues; efficiency and equity in land use planning, including zoning changes; optimal depletion of non-renewable resources and Hotelling's Rule; bio-economics of fisheries and fisheries management; the allocation of water resources; and forest management. Prerequisite: ECON 1900
