Students explore leadership theories and Indigenous frameworks to address everyday challenges in educational leadership, emphasizing relational accountability, cultural respect, and community engagement. Students will critically analyze research literature, including Indigenous knowledge systems and methodologies such as the four Rs (respect, reciprocity, relevance, and responsibility), while considering the practical challenges of leadership in diverse educational contexts. Reflecting on Indigenous ways of knowing, students examine how leadership practices can support reconciliation, decolonization, and community empowerment. Prerequisite: Admission to the TRU MEd program. Note: Students will only receive credit for one of EDUC 5401 and EDUC 5400.
