Students are introduced to the concepts of power system operations. Students learn the mathematical optimization techniques to optimize the operation of power systems including power flow analysis, steady-state security region analysis, security constrained economic dispatch etc. Students techniques such as explore unit commitment, optimal power flow, smart grid operation, optimal load shed, optimal reconfiguration of distribution network, power system uncertainty analysis, and power system sensitivity analysis. Students survey the current key research issues in power system operations & distribution. Prerequisites: Admission to the Graduate program in Engineering.
