Institutional Learning Outcomes: Recent advances in environmental sensing technologies have increased the amount of data available to support water resources analyses. This explosion in available data necessitates the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to integrate, preprocess, and analyze these datasets. This course will explore ArcGIS-based tools for performing water resources analyses, including Web-services for data acquisition; watershed delineation; river network identification; infiltration modeling; analysis of water budgets; runoff modeling; and channel routing. At the end of the course, the students will have a firm grounding in the application of GIS for modeling of water resources systems. Prerequisite: GEOG 2050 and GEOG 2740 or NRSC 2230 or permission of the instructor.
