Students explore the processes involved in the formation of sedimentary rocks, learn how to observe and describe sedimentary rocks and sequences, and interpret their origins and depositional environments. Using stratigraphic principles, including facies analysis, correlation, and sequence concepts, students engage in basin analysis, and its application to energy and sustainable water resources. Prerequisites: GEOL 1110 and GEOL 2050 or GEOL 2051 or permission of the instructor Note: Students will only receive credit for one of GEOL 3290 and GEOL 2290
