This online course is intended for professionals working in the health system, and upper-level students in health degree programs who aim to develop their knowledge and skill in care management. Students explore the theory of care management within a client-directed service philosophy including ethical decision-making using bioethical principles, the balancing of autonomy and risk, the legal context of care management, and system barriers to client-directed service delivery. Using both teleconferences and online discussions, the course is delivered in the context of current and emerging health policy and organizational structures. Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites for the course, but graduation with a Health Care diploma, experience in a health care setting and recent upper-level coursework are recommended.
