Students examine unique and focused topics related to human rights and/or social justice that help advance their own research interests and needs. Students engage advanced, interdisciplinary readings and assessments to demonstrate depth of knowledge in an area otherwise not covered by other MA HRSJ courses. Prerequisites: HRSJ 5010 (min. grade B-); Directed studies proposal must show evidence of interdisciplinary engagement, must be approve by course instructor(s) and the MA HRSJ Program Coordinator. The proposal must be on a topic not covered through MA HRSJ course offerings. Directed Studies can only be taken due to extraordinary circumstances (for example, a student who needs to withdraw from a course may retake that course, with permission, as a directed studies)
