Institutional Learning Outcomes: Social Responsibility Students examine the history and development of social welfare policy in Canada. Policy areas explored include poverty and labor, children and families, Indigenous rights, environmental justice, and health, disability, and aging. The development of major political ideologies is investigated as is the influence of ideology on the development of social welfare policy. Students explore the structure of government, the policy making process, and the social worker's role in influencing policy development. Prerequisite: Admission to the Human Service Diploma program or permission of the Program Coordinator Note: Students will only receive credit for one of SOCW 2120, SOCW 2121 or HUMS 2120
