Institutional Learning Outcomes: Indigenous Knowledges and Ways Students study and practice reporting in collaboration with various Indigenous communities within Secwepemcúlucw, the traditional and unceded territory of the Secwépemc. Students will learn about local First Nations cultures and history; examine representations of Indigenous peoples in Canadian media; and discuss strategies for in-depth coverage of Indigenous issues. They will learn trauma-informed interview techniques and develop critical analysis to current coverage of Indigenous stories. The final assignment will be a creative endeavor of their choice with the goal of working towards reconciliation.
