Institutional Learning Outcomes: Students are introduced to the basics of gathering information in journalism, including planning, networking, researching, evaluating, interviewing, summarizing, critical thinking and deadline writing. Students explore the basic issues of journalism, including media law and ethics, and the beats of journalism, such as justice reporting and municipal reporting. The practical and applied principles, values and behaviour of effective journalism are discussed. Prerequisite: Admission to the Journalism program, the Bachelor of Arts, Major in Communication, or permission of the Chair
