Institutional Learning Outcomes: Social Responsibility This course is an introduction to the discipline of nursing. Students review the historical development of nursing knowledge and theory, exploring contemporary understandings of nursing as a discipline. They develop skills in accessing and evaluating the body of knowledge that defines it. Students begin to develop an inquiry-based approach to learning and application of evidence in nursing practice. Relationships between practice, theory, and research are explored. Prerequisite: NURS 1170 and NURS 1700 and NURS 1730 and NURS 1740; NURS 1830 and NURS 1840 (must be taken at the same time or before NURS 1800).
