This course builds upon educational theory presented in NURS 6220 - Foundations of Nursing Education, focusing on the adult learner and issues related to learner diversity. The emphasis is placed on analyzing and designing strategies and modalities relevant to classroom and clinical teaching in nursing education for both structured and unstructured settings. This course provides students with a variety of teaching strategies and evaluative approaches designed to promote a productive and effective learning environment. Students will explore a wide selection of instructional methodologies appropriate for the higher education setting and staff development. Students will also examine methods of learning assessment and evaluation based on current educational and nursing research. Prerequisites: NURS 6220 (min. grade B-) and approval of the course faculty.
