Institutional Learning Outcomes: Teamwork Students will develop microscopic models and understanding of electrical and thermodynamic properties of solids. Topics include bonding, crystal structure, defects, strength of materials, heat capacity, lattice vibrations and phonons, electrical properties, band theory, and semiconductors. Team teaching/learning will be applied to lecture and laboratory components. Accompanying laboratory will support student learning of course material and provide opportunities for data analysis and communication. Prerequisite: PHYS 2000 or CHEM 2000 and MATH 2110 or MATH 2111.
