Institutional Learning Outcomes: Capstone Students apply scientific attitudes to plan, design and carry out experiments over an extended period of time. Students complete rigorous data analysis and present their research findings through written and oral reports. Experiments build on work by past students, connecting current students to past students and to the global physics community. Students submit an article to a program journal and contribute to a peer review process. Laboratory work provides opportunities in many areas of physics including condensed matter physics, optics, signal conditioning, astronomy and image processing, nuclear physics, and acoustics. Prerequisite: PHYS 4090.
