Students will explore the theory and practice of interpersonal communication and basic counselling skills. They will investigate foundational counselling skills including attending, paraphrasing, empathic responding, questions, summarizing, and challenging. Students will gain practical experience in structuring a counselling session and will work to develop an understanding of the helping process. Prerequisites: PSYC 1110 and PSYC 1210 and PSYC 3810 and completion of 45 credits and Instructor's written consent.
