Human cultural evolution features both universal patterns and endless variety. This course introduces theories, methods, case studies and experiential applications from anthropology, including fieldwork design, data analysis and interpretive practices that may be used to discover cultural meanings through formal research tasks and informal observations. Contemporary issues in anthropology are contrasted with historical movements to illustrate the development of the field.
