The course examines mechani sms of signal transduction and intracellular signalling. We will first examine the biochemical tools of signalling pathways including receptor families and their ligands, second messengers, G-Proteins and protein phosphorylation switches. We will then investigate the signalling pathways and networks in biological functions, which may include stress-response, blood pressure control, cell growth, cell migration, and the immune response.Weekly
