This course investigates how contemporary research, societal discourses, and curriculum resources impact how young children experience and move their bodies. Centering children’s diverse lived knowledge about movement, growth, physical activity, motor skills, and body politics, students examine practices for supporting children’s meaningful and affirmative relationships with bodies and movement. Through experiential learning, students consider the ethics and politics of moving with children and explore how to create programming that promotes body justice, equity, and complexity.Weekly
