Chil dren’s social and emotional well-being are examined through critical analysis of theories and research. Topics include primary and secondary emotions, attachment, temperament, parenting, anxiety and aggression, and gender identity. The course acknowledges children’s rights and contemporary theories of childhood that view children as social agents who help shape their own well-being. Students learn a variety of strategies deemed to support children's mental health and their adaptation to life's challenges.Weekly
