This cou rse introduces students to South Asia as a dynamic geo-political 'region', with a unique colonial history, uneven development, and shifting identities. In the first half of the course concepts such as postcolonialism, nationalism and nationhood are discussed. The second half focuses specifically on the differential geographies produced between and within South Asian nation states, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan.Weekly
