This course deals with entrepreneurship as a concept that goes beyond starting a business. Specifically, it focuses on building entrepreneurial attitudes and behaviours that will lead to creative solutions within community and organizational environments. Course topics include defining entrepreneurship as it applies to individuals (traits, cognition, creativity, risk-taking and vigilance) and translates into specific behaviours (opportunity identification, evaluation, and exploitation), and possible results (business start-up, product launch, value creation), as well as how to foster and develop entrepreneurial thinking. Students will also be made aware of the importance the entrepreneurial spirit plays in society, including in social, political, community, or economic environments.
