This course introduces students to the evolution, chemical structure, and biological roles of the major molecular components of the cell: including proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, and carbohydrates. Topics and processes integrated through understanding biological macromolecules include enzymology and intermediary metabolism, with emphasis on catabolic processes.
