This course introduces the fundamentals of small animal oral health, including the anatomy and physiology of the tooth and surrounding structures, and the disease processes which can occur, with an emphasis on the prevention of oral disease. Students are introduced to the proper techniques involved in performing a complete dental prophylaxis as well as proper positioning for dental/oral radiography. Students will become proficient in counselling clients on appropriate preventative home care. Students will apply skills such as radiation safety and proper radiography positioning to produce diagnostic radiography images.
