This course provides an engaging introduction to the bird life of southern Ontario, designed for students of all backgrounds, including those with no prior science experience. Students will learn how to identify bird species by sight and, for many, by sound. The course explores bird behavior, conservation, and research, highlighting the ecological roles of birds and their benefits to human well-being, including mental health. Through hands-on observation and discussion, students will gain a deeper appreciation for birds, their diversity in Ontario, and their place in the natural world.
