This course introduces students to current digital image generating technologies. Students will learn common methods for creating digital images using free online tools and open-source desktop and mobile applications. Group projects provide opportunities to research and experiment with various digital tools in a spirit of collaboration and community while strengthening a deeper understanding of the technology within a historical and cultural context. A final individual assignment on the composite will give students the opportunity to explore a combination of digital tools and processes in a creative work grounded in the art historical techniques of montage and collage.
