This course considers possibilities for just futures in the 'Anthropocene' through a critical exploration of human-animal-environment relations, foregrounding cultural, political-economic and ethical dimensions. We will interrogate our understandings of the human, the culture-nature divide, and discourses of justice and sustainability using social theory and pressing real world case-studies. All disciplinary backgrounds welcome.
