The goal of this course is to foster a learning community among first-year Indigenous students in a culturally relevant way such that they develop skills for academic success. Through group discussions, speaker presentations, Elder visits, and hands-on activities, students will learn academic, library, introductory research, and study skills. They will become familiar with the services available to them as Indigenous students, be exposed to speakers from various departments on campus as well as the community, and receive support in overcoming roadblocks they may encounter in their transition to university.
