The course will present current day and potential future issues facing Canada's agri-food sector. Students will be required to identify and optimize solutions to these issues, with a focus on the roles and responsibilities of farmers, other food producers and agri-food industry members. The impact of these issues on farms and the agri-food industry now and in the future will be emphasized as will the role farmers can play in in policy development in response to these issues. An opportunity for students to engage with several guest speakers from the agri-food community. There will be two or three full-day field trips [3 credits]
