This course examines mapping theory and practice in order to reveal the meaning of maps including how maps construct knowledge, exercise power, and can promote social change. Using maps from a variety of sources, students will develop a solid foundation in the literature and gain experience in understanding and analyzing maps and other forms of geospatial representations such as Geographic Information Systems and remote sensing [3 credits]
