This course will examine field and analysis techniques that form the basis of climatological research, with particular emphasis on contemporary research in the areas of microclimatology and micrometeorology. Techniques for the examination of biophysical and biogeochemical processes driving the surface exchanges of heat, water and greenhouse gases form an important component of this course. The aim of the course is to prepare the student for independent research in applied climatology and meteorology, including the affiliated fields of ecology, hydrology, oceanography, as well as other fields of atmospheric science [3 credits]
