This course aims to (i) provide students with a strong background on the importance and current knowledge of Arctic sea ice and (ii) train students on current field techniques used in research pertaining to sea ice-related investigations. To attain these goals, the course will combine field safety training, classroom lectures and assignments, and direct field experience through a field trip pertaining to physical and biogeochemical processes of the snow-covered sea-ice environment [3 credits]
