Gender history explores the roles, images, and experiences of masculinity and femininity in the past. This course will familiarize students with the changing theoretical and historiographical terrain of gender history. It will draw on the international literature but focus on the history of gender in Canada, examining how historians analyse masculinity, femininity, the family, sexuality, politics, race/ethnicity, moral regulation, class, nation, and colonialism [6 credits]
