Language of instruction: English. Intended for students with little or no previous knowledge of Icelandic. Emphasis will be placed on functional spoken and written communication, with some basic Icelandic grammar. The course will cover topics like popular music, film, memory culture, multiculturalism, environmentalism, food, and family structures in Iceland. Involvement of the Icelandic-Canadian community in Manitoba and of Icelandic presenters are an integral part of this course.
