An in-depth study of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms including its roots in the International, European and American experiences. In this course, we will consider some of the key controversies arising from Charter jurisprudence. We will also look at emerging issues including the resolution of claims by differently situated rights holders and the potential use of the Charter to advance the rights of Indigenous claimants [3 credits]
