The primary purpose of the Externship is to allow students an opportunity to work in a legal context where they gain professional knowledge and skills related to law, the legal profession and legal practice. Particular emphasis will be given to questions of professional responsibility and ethics. Within the workplace, students will be required to participate in various forms of exercises and to conduct work within an actual work setting where they face real day-to-day work situations under the supervision of practicing lawyers. Depending on the nature of the placement, they may be required to engage in classroom work. Registration Grading: Pass/Fail [12 credits]
