The course offers an examination of contemporary ethical theories and their application to controversial moral issues. Possible topics include: the ethics of affirmative action/reverse discrimination; the censorship of hate speech; and our obligations to the global poor. Students will learn how to think critically about ethical issues and how to develop and defend their own moral position [3 credits]
